History

In 1890 Van Leusden was founded as a blacksmith shop in the centre of Rotterdam. In that time the company was named “Addicks en Dirckx”. After worldwar 2 mister J.H. van Leusden sr. took over the company and renamed the company to his name. A slow transition was made from blacksmith to manufacturer of small hoisting equipment like trolleys. In 1956 the brand ATLAS Trolley was registered. In 1971 the company moved from Rotterdam to Etten – Leur where a new office and workshop was build. That meant production capacity was doubled. Van Leusden also began building small and medium sized gantry cranes. In 1972 the company was taken over by mister J.H.M (Koos) van Leusden, who would go on to manage the company for more then 30 years to come. In 1982 Van Leusden introduced the Atlas Air Hoist, a special pneumatic application suitable for hazardous environments. In 1990 Van Leusden celebrated 100 years of history since its foundation in 1890.

In 2010 the current directors took over Van Leusden. In 2011 Van Leusden introduced a new and promising product – The Handycat, a new website and moved to the Port of Moerdijk where production capacity is doubled once again.
